Most Anticipated Music for 2015

Music writer Bianca V.

Hey lovers of all things music,

2014 was a good year for musical build-up. With certain artists alluding to possible releases for 2015, most music lovers are nothing shy of excited for the 2015 year of music. So who can we anticipate with releases this year?
Even without an album, 2014 was a great year for Drake. He had huge features with artists such as Nicki Minaj and iLoveMakonnen last year along with the release of 3 of his own songs. Drake left us anticipating the album drop in 2015, tentatively entitled “Views From The 6.” With label mate Nicki Minaj soaring high at the close of 2014, we can only wonder what Drake has in store for us in 2015.
Kanye West:
With everything surrounding Kanye about his various rants on fashion and the paparazzi and his high-profile marriage to Kim Kardashian, it’s easy to forget what a gifted artist Kanye is. Well Mr. West decided to gift us a reminder with his song “Only One” featuring Sir Paul McCartney. The song was written for his little beauty North West. The song is absolutely heartfelt and beautiful, but also a reminder of the Kanye West we all loved on “Late Registration” with his heartfelt tribute song to his grandmother “Roses.” If this is a preview of what Kanye will give us this year we are definitely ready!
Kendrick Lamar:
Kendrick Lamar has been hailed as a rapper that will be remembered for many years to come just from his debut album “Good Kid, M.A.A.D City.” With hits on the album like “B**** Don’t Kill My Vibe,” “Swimming Pools” and the Drake assisted “Poetic Justice,” Lamar had a clear classic on his hands. Well the wait is rumored to be over. Rumblings have been coming from the TDE camp that Lamar could be releasing his highly anticipated sophomore album this year!
Frank Ocean:
Frank Ocean blew our minds with his debut album “Channel Orange” in 2012 and ever since we have been longing for music from the hippie-styled artist. Well the wait is rumored to be over. With photos surfacing of Ocean in the studio with the likes of Pharrell and Hit-Boy, we are ready for a sequel to “Channel Orange.”
Meek Mill:
With his recent legal troubles and new relationship with Nicki Minaj, Meek Mill is definitely riding high into 2015. Not only that Meek is set to finally release his sophomore album “Dreams Worth More Than Money.” The album was supposed to be released last year, but Meek had a short stint in jail which held the album back. Meek definitely ended the year on a great musical note with two features on Nicki Minaj’s “Pink Print” album. We are definitely ready to hear some new material from Meek this year.
There is also music rumored to be released by Rihanna, Adele and Pusha-T. With this line-up, 2015 will definitely be a year for great music.
