A new year always equals new music to make new memories to and the upcoming releases are looking to be a great soundtrack for 2017. Let’s begin with the upcoming follow-up to Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music compilation album Cruel Summer which is of course entitled Cruel Winter. Cruel Winter is slated to feature Kanye West, Travis Scott and 2 Chainz. We can also look forward to hearing The Migos on the album due to a management deal with G.O.O.D. Music. Speaking of 2 Chainz his upcoming album Pretty Girls Like Trap Music is slated for an April release and has been cosigned by our sis Erykah Badu! Remember the eclectic Big Sean and Jhene Aiko collaboration Twenty 88? Well according to Big Sean we can expect a follow-up release this year with his current love interest Jhene. We also can look forward to a new Jhene Aiko solo project this year. She already released her first single “Maniac.” Her musical partner Big Sean already released his solo project I Decided earlier this month. Can’t mention music without mentioning the man who has seemingly been running the show, Drake. He is set to release More Life this month although it was first rumored to be released back in December. Either way we can anticipate heavy air play with this one. Some veterans are rumored to be delivering us some greatness in 2017. Nas apparently has an album that is done, at least that’s what he told us on his Khaled assisted song “Nas Album Done.” I personally have been praying that it’s true. Another veteran rumored to release a project this year is of course soon to be daddy again, Jay-Z. He reportedly was working on the album last year with various producers, photos have also surfaced with Jay in the studio. Either was whether music or more little ones, Jay-Z is sure to deliver in 2017. In R&B news, Ciara has been working on new music and is readying up for a 2017 album release. No word on when she plans to release the album but she has been hard at work with her follow-up to her 2014 album Jackie. Also our beloved Melanie Fiona has had us waiting on her album Awake for a solid three, yes three years now! Many think this year will be the year the project gets released. A recent R&B favorite is readying for his album release, Bryson Tiller. Many of us were worried that Bryson wouldn’t make any more waves with his music but 2017 could be giving many of us what we’ve been waiting for. Other artists that are on watch for albums this year are Trey Songz, Gucci Mane, Pusha T, T.I., Jeremiah, Travis Scott, ASAP Rocky, Young Thug and Lil Wayne. 2017 looks promising.
